SANDAKAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman wants Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to find the root cause of the recent statewide power disruption that lasted up to 10 hours in some areas.
“I want a thorough investigation by SESB’s special team and find out what caused this crisis,” he said when approached by reporters after the Maulidur Rasul celebration here yesterday.
Musa said he also wanted SESB to come up and brief the State Cabinet on concrete solutions to ensure this incident did not recur in the future.
“I also hope certain quarters do not speculate on the cause of this incident and do not use it for political mileage,” he said.
Earlier, in his speech, Musa said the ‘wasatiyyah’ (moderation) approach should be appreciated and translated by all levels of society, especially Muslims, in Sabah.
He said such an approach was necessary to nurture a society that had a passion and love for the country besides maintaining and encouraging racial and religious harmony.
An in-depth and thorough understanding of religious teachings is key to universal well-being as well as to avoid misunderstanding and disunity among Muslims, he said.
Musa said unity and mutual understanding with non-Muslims could also be strengthened through the approach.
He also urged all Muslims in the state to continue upholding and appreciating the teachings of the Quran and the prophet as guidance so as not to be misled by all kinds of challenges, including false teachings.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also inspected upgrading work at the Sandakan Airport and was satisfied to see it was progressing smoothly despite inclement weather.
The RM70 million upgrading project is expected to be completed by November this year and will provide greater comfort for passengers and hence boost the local tourism industry. - New Sabah Times
