SANDAKAN: Sandakan Wanita Umno chief Noraini Sulong said the people have confidence in the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government because its leaders never fail to carry out their responsibilities and are always in touch with the grassroots.
As such, she believed that support for BN would continue to grow especially for Wanita Umno which was the backbone of the party.
“We will continue to carry out our mission including identifying the needs of the people at the grassroots level including the disadvantaged ones.
“We will try to help them to the best of our ability so that no one who needs assistance will be neglected,” she added.
Noraini said this to reporters after chairing the 2nd meeting of the Sandakan Wanita Umno held at the Sandakan Umno division office, Saturday.
At the meeting, 21 Wanita Umno committee members led by Noraini also took their oath of office for the 2013-2016 term.
Noraini said efforts to strengthen the party would continue to ensure total victory for the BN, particularly in Sabah in the 14th General Election (GE).
As the backbone of the party, she said Wanita Umno would counter the opposition’s agenda which was to fool the people.
She urged the Wanita Umno members at the branch level to unite and not to be influenced by opposition which could not fulfil any promises made unlike the BN.
“It has been proven that only BN can bring about development to the people including providing them with more economic opportunities.
“Because of this, the people regardless of their beliefs continue to enjoy many benefits such as the 1Malaysia People’s Aid or BR1M.
“Don’t fall for the propaganda of certain quarters with narrow political interests as they would not be able to ensure the future of Malaysians of diverse races and religions,” she said.
Instead, Noraini said the Wanita Umno machinery must always be ready to defeat the opposition and ensure the BN’s victory in GE14.
She said the Wanita Umno machinery was strong would not have any problem in facing its opponents.
“I personally do not see any problem with the Sandakan Wanita Umno machinery as members are united and strongly committed to the party’s struggle.
“I am proud of their loyalty to the party as the party’s struggle is actually for the wellbeing of the people as a whole,” she added.
Meanwhile, Noraini , who is also the chairman of the SandakanPEMADAM Women’s Affairs Bureau also gave donations to victims of the recent Kampung Batu 2 TB Ward fire.
She advised them to be patient as the government would provide them assistance to ease their burden.
